Timeline of activities for plan update

The Short-Range Transit Plan is a roadmap that Glenn Transit Service can use to get people where they need to go by improving transit service both within and surrounding Glenn County. The plan sets the stage for incremental improvements over the next ten years and is the first significant review of GTS’s operations in more than a decade. It is reflective of current travel patterns and community needs as well as goals for the future of transit in the area. The recommendations will make GTS more visible, accessible, and useful, providing a better service to existing riders while also attracting new riders.

The plan encompasses GTS’s service, operations, marketing, facilities, and financial conditions; identifies where improvements are needed and possible; and provides realistic, phased implementation strategies. Near-term service strategies include adjustments to stop locations, routes, and schedules. Mid-term strategies focus on upgrades to stop amenities and vehicles, and long-term strategies will result in new routes and regional connections. Community input, from riders and non-riders alike, forms the foundation of all of the strategies presented in this plan. Ultimately, this plan will allow GTS to continue serving Glenn County residents well into the future.
